Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort taps Experientia Development Partners for Expansion Project

CHEROKEE, N.C. (September 25, 2018) – Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort announces an exciting new development in partnership with Experientia Development Partners. On August 1, 2018, Experientia Development Partners was retained to proceed with the leasing and development of a new retail, dining and entertainment promenade at Harrah’s Cherokee Resort Casino in Cherokee, North Carolina.

EBCI Principal Chief Richard Sneed added, “Projects such as this generate significant revenue and job opportunities for our people. We evaluated a number of different plans from different developers, and quite frankly, we felt that the plan developed by Experientia was the best fit for our customers and will provide a long term legacy for our people.”

“As developers specializing in developing non-gaming amenities for gaming enterprises, we were immediately struck by the caliber of Harrah’s Cherokee both in terms of its natural beauty and the operational expertise of the Harrah’s Cherokee management team,” said Matt Armstrong, Co-founder and CEO of Experientia Development Partners.

Jeff Hartmann, Co-founder and President, further elaborated, “I’ve spent most of my career working for tribal gaming enterprises on the management side, and I can tell you that the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are some of the most innovative and forward thinking people I have ever worked with. We are excited to be part of this next phase of their development.”

The retail, dining and entertainment promenade is anticipated to be approximately 230,000 square feet and will be adjacent to the new hotel and conference center. Ground was broken on June 26, 2018 for the new hotel and conference center, which will include 83,000 square feet of conference space and 725 guest rooms.  The combined project is expected to take 30 months to complete and be delivered concurrently.

The promenade will include 35 tenant spaces and offer specialty retail, omni-channel retail, dining, including a food hall and a diverse selection of entertainment concepts. The project will be enclosed and connected to the new hotel. There will be outdoor dining areas along Soco Creek that runs through the property, with additional covered parking also planned. Leasing has already begun and it is anticipated that the retail portion of the project will break ground in late 2019.

“We’ve been fortunate to experience continued growth since the casino first opened its doors in 1997,” said Brooks Robinson, Regional Senior Vice President and General Manager. “This retail and dining experience will be an exciting, sizable component complimenting the Resort and the conference center expansion.”
